An exhibition called "Africanism and Universality" opened Wednesday (15 December) in Tunisia to mark the 1,650th anniversary of the birth of St. Augustine in Roman Africa. The 15 December to 10 January exhibition is held at the Acropolium in Carthage and is sponsored by the Tunisian Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Tunis Diocese and the Swiss Embassy.
the exhibition is an opportunity to rediscover Tunisia's Christian past
"The Church in Tunisia is somewhat similar to what it was in its origins: a small community of believers that tries to live its faith and give testimony of its charity," Tunis Diocese Vicar General Dominique Rezeau said on the eve of the exhibition. The Tunis diocese runs the St. Augustine Clinic and 10 primary and secondary schools in Tunisia's largest cities. Rezeau said the exhibition is an opportunity to rediscover Tunisia's Christian past.
