Algerian Culture Minister Khalida Toumi and General Manager of the Islamic Organization for Education, Sciences and Culture (ISESCO), Abdelaziz Altwaijri, announced the start of the 4th Islamic Culture Ministers Conference at a Wednesday (15 December) press conference in Algiers.
The conference will discuss the role of culture in the development of Muslim countries. It will affirm ISESCO's commitment to support democracy and human rights -- concepts not in contradiction to Islam. At the same time, the conference will focus on ways to balance globalization with maintaining national identity and heritage. (ISESCO)
