According to Moroccan press reports, Moroccan comedian Djemel Debbouze is the highest-paid star in French cinema, earning about 1m euros per film. French film critics say Debbouze created a unique style that helped him become a star. His career took off in 1994 when he landed the lead role in Nabil Ayouch’s short film, "The Blue Stones of the Desert". Debbouze is a regular on European comedy channels; in 2001, his stand-up comedy video sold 400,000 copies. (albawaba.com)
