Tunisia Celebrates National Tree Day

Tunisia marked National Tree Day on Sunday (21 November) with a series of events stressing the importance of preserving trees and forests. The day included a public awareness campaign. President Ben Ali presided over a ceremony at Sidi Bou Said that focused on the importance of olive trees. According to Tunisian government statistics, forests cover 12 per cent of the country.
