London Jazz Festival Features North African Music
2004-11-21
The last days of the London Jazz Festival proved that jazz is the product of cultural fusion. The festival ended on Sunday (21 November) after showcasing gigs that don't correspond to the conventional notion of jazz. Rachid Taha, at the Barbican on 18 November, offered a blend of traditional Algerian music and rock, while Dhafer Youssef, the same night at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, presented a Tunisian-Norwegian mix.
