Moroccan Archaeological Excavations Reveal Ancient History
2004-11-17
Recent archaeological excavations in Morocco's eastern Rif Mountains uncovered signs of ancient civilisations, the oldest dating back to 800,000-200,000 years BC, researcher Abdeslam Miqdad of the Moroccan Institute of Archaeological Science and Research on Heritage told a weekend symposium in Berlin. Miqdad said tools were found from the Acheulean civilisation 800,000-200,000 years BC, the Mousterian civilisation 120,000-40,000 years BC, as well as items believed to belong to the Iberian-Moor civilisation 20,000 to 10,000 years BC.
