Renowned Algerian Maestro Dies

The director of Algeria's Higher Institute of Music, Maestro Boukhari Mougari, died of a heart attack Monday (8 November) in Bastia, France APS reported. He was visiting France to direct an orchestra of Mediterranean youth. Known for conducting "with soul, passion and enthusiasm", Mougari first studied at the Algiers National Institute of Music.
