Raja Casablanca wrapped up the Moroccan Premier League title on Saturday (May 30th) when they defeated Chabab Mohammedia 1-0. Difaa El Jadida, FAR Rabat and Wydad Casablanca continue to compete for the second place win necessary to qualify for the African Champion League.
Raja entertained fans with a great performance. Omar Najdi scored the match's only goal in the 42nd minute after a pass from Mohamed Armoumen. The fans jumped up and down, filling the stadium of the city of Mohammedia with joy and happiness.
This will be the ninth championship title for Raja, and fans in Casablanca took to the streets to celebrate the news. More celebrations will take place after the next round, when RCA plays against Hassania Agadir on their own turf. Then, RCA will be officially pronounced champions of the league.
"I would like to congratulate the players, fans, and managers of Raja," said coach José Romao said after the match. "We are the best and we deserve this title."
Also Saturday, Hassania Agadir defeated AS Salé 2-1.
Captain Ezzedine Hissa scored the first goal for HUSA in the 33rd minute through a wonderful header.
In the second half of the match, Salé launched several attacks until Khaled Sbai scored the equaliser in the 61st minute from a very strong shot. However, Hissa came back to score the winner for his team in the 63rd minute, after an inaccurate intervention from the ASS goalkeeper.
Moghreb Fès tied 1-1 in their match against Difaa El Jadida.
El Jadida scored first in the 10th minute, while the hosts equalised in the 51st minute when star Kader Fall scored on a wonderful header.
On Sunday, FAR Rabat defeated their guests KAC Kenitra 2-0 in a match that was dominated by the capital's team, although they passed several opportunities to score. KAC's defence also performed very well.
Tarek Marzouk scored the first goal in the 75th minute, which KAC players protested, claiming Marzouk was offside.
Current season top scorer Mustapha Allaoui tapped the second goal in the 88th minute. It was the player's 13th goal this season.
Wydad Casablanca defeated Mouloudia Oujda 2-1. Wydad Casablanca star Mustapha Bidoudane scored the first goal in the 18th minute from a header following a corner. Teammate Reda Doulyazale tapped in a beautiful second goal in the 24th minute after playing a free-kick from 30 meters out. Mohammed Mani scored MCO's only goal in the 80th minute.
Olympique Safi defeated their guests Moghreb Tétouan 2-1.
The hosts were the stronger team in the match. Landri scored the first goal in the 7th minute after confusion in the guests' defensive line. Then Youssef Elhouwwasi scored the equaliser just one minute later.
Adil Haliouiat tapped in the winning goal in the 19th minute after his teammate Namli played a corner. The goal was challenged by the Moghreb Tétouan players, saying that their defender Ahmed Salah was pushed by the scorer of the goal. OC Safi also protested against the referee when he cancelled a goal they scored in the 51st minute under the pretext of offside.
Kawkab Marrakech and Jeunesse Massira drew 1-1. Meanwhile, the match between Olympique Khouribga and Ittihad Zemmouri de Khemisset (IZK) was postponed.
