iSkoot expanding PC calling service for mobile phones

With international telephone call rates increasing, people are finding alternative ways to keep in touch with loved ones overseas. One such way has been PC Calling, which allows users to make phone calls from their personal computers. A new product now promises to enhance the ability of mobile phone users to make and receive PC calls.

Skype, a PC Calling programme, has been expanding and improving its services ever since it started offering free PC to PC call service. A company now makes Skype an even better alternative for making local and international phone calls.
iSkoot, a new mobile Internet phone company, developed software that makes cell phone access easier for the millions of Skype Internet phone users. The company allows Skype users to make and receive calls from any cell phone. With iSkoot, callers do not require any extra hardware, headsets or broadband connections.
"We are extremely excited about offering Skype users true mobility. The iSkoot mobile network completely frees Skype users from their PCs. It provides an onramp to the PC-PC network for cell phone users," said Jacob Guedaliam, iSkoot CEO.
"With the iSkoot software solution on your mobile phone, consumers can use the Internet to call their online buddies without ever having to use their PC or a broadband connection. Once cell phone users download the iSkoot software to their regular handsets, they will be able to do everything they do with PC calling, but with true mobility, even away from wi-fi hotspots," he added.
PC Calling services such as Skype use Voice Over Internet Protocol, a technology that allows customers to use the Internet as a gateway to make phone calls. The iSkoot software conjoins mobile and Internet networks to enable users to have a clear transition from mobile to Internet telephony. Once the user downloads the software from the iSkoot web site, he or she can connect his cell phone immediately to the Skype's Voice Over Internet protocol service.
it works wherever the cell phone work
Because the iSkoot service uses the mobile phone's voice network, it works wherever the cell phone works. Users can place PC calls as if they were sitting behind their computers.
iSkoot currently supports only the Skype service, but new platforms will soon be added, according to its web site, including Google Talk and Yahoo! Messenger.
