The second Tunis Lake International Rowing Regatta, organised by the Tunisian Rowing Canoe-Kayak Federation (FTACK), will run from March 31st-April 1st. Sixty rowers from Italy, England, France, Belgium, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Libya, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, Togo, Somalia, and Tunisia will take part in the event. The tournament includes women's and men's contests in several categories. Tunisia will be represented by 20 rowers in eight events, according to national technical director Faycal Soula. Soula said the regatta is an important part of Tunisia's preparation for the All African Games in Algiers, this year’s Pan-Arab Games in Egypt, and the world seniors' and juniors' championships, in China and Germany respectively. Tunisia won the first year of the tournament in 2006, with 9 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze medals. (TAP, La Presse)
