Moroccan Star Athlete Receives French Award

On Wednesday (8 December), Moroccan Olympic athlete Hicham El Guerrouj received the 2004 "Sports Prize" as one of the world's best athletes from French television stations France2 and France3. The prize rewards El Guerrouj's outstanding performances in 2004, particularly the gold medals he earned in the 1500m and 5000m track races at the Athens Olympic Games. The runner said he is proud to receive the prize, explaining that 2004 started with doubts but proved to be a great year. (MAP)
