An article in the Moroccan newspaper Le Matin on Thursday (11 November) said young Moroccans do not use the Internet as an educational and cultural tool. Although SMS messaging is vibrant, e-commerce is barely utilised. The article compared Morocco's Internet growth to that of the UAE, which has the highest growth rate in the Arab world. The UAE achieved its Internet success through government intervention, introducing e-government and by encouraging the banking sector to adopt new technologies. Although Moroccan Prime Minister Driss Jettou has promised to encourage Internet use, the article said more must be done. (albawaba.com)
