Amnesty International Hails Morocco

Irene Khan, secretary-general of Amnesty International (AI), hailed the advancements made by Morocco in the field of human rights. "In a world marked by serious violations of human rights, comforting news comes to us from countries like Morocco," she said during a London press conference to present the AI annual report on the world human rights situation.

Bladi.net reports said Khan added the most significant advancements were achieved by Morocco during the past few years, with acts such as the establishment of the Authority for Equity and Reconciliation and the adoption of a new code of family, which she described as "progressive." (albawaba.com)
