Satellite technology is used to find where the swarms are developing
Locust experts are slated to visit Algeria's southwest Tadmeit region next week to check the status of swarms in the area. Due to climatic conditions, the area is expected to produce huge swarms of locusts in the coming months. General Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Chelghoum Abdessalem said his ministry expects swarms of locusts invading northward in January. Satellite technology is used to find where the swarms are developing in order to pinpoint which areas will be sprayed. (APS)
