At least 24 Algerian gendarmes are dead following a terrorist ambush Wednesday (June 17th) near Bordj Bou Arreridj (250 km east of Algiers), local and international press reported. According to local security services, two bombs struck a 6-vehicle convoy escorting workers for the East-West highway project around 8 pm near Oued Mehier. None of the civilian road crew workers, mostly Chinese nationals, were killed in the attack.
