Moroccan panels promote human rights

Some 150 European and Arab experts gathered in Rabat on Wednesday (December 3rd) for an international conference on socio-professional integration of the mentally disabled. The issue of the disabled is a matter of human rights, Social Development, Family and Solidarity Minister Nouzha Skalli said, noting that a Moroccan law designed to establish a legal framework to uphold the rights of these persons.

In related news Wednesday, Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi announced the creation of a new steering committee for the government's democracy and human rights action plan (PANDDH), MAP reported. The European Commission's Rabat representative hailed the move, saying it strengthens the political dialogue between Morocco and the EU on human rights and fundamental freedoms.
