Participants in the first MEDays Forum in Tangier on Friday (November 28th) called for urgent action to re-open borders between Morocco and Algeria. According to a statement issued after the debates on Friday, "Algeria needs to display responsibility and normalise its relations with neighbouring Morocco". The statement also calls for an "effective and sustainable revival" of the Arab Maghreb Union, in order to achieve better regional economic integration. The statement recommended a wide range of measures to fulfil the goals of the project for creation of a Euro-Mediterranean economic space, as well as to achieve economic cohesion and overcome inequality in development between the northern and the southern regions.
