Moroccan female MPs gathered at a forum Wednesday (October 8th) in Rabat to press for wider political representation of women in the 2009 communal elections and for implementation of the quota system, MAP reported. Forum Chairman Touria Charki noted that the last communal elections in 2003 produced 127 female local representatives out of 24,000, or a 0.56% rate .The meeting was convened to coincide with celebrations of International Women's Day, set for October 10th.
