The Algerian government has allocated an initial budget of 200 million euros for the reconstruction of flood-ravaged Ghardaia, Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia said Sunday (October 5th) during his visit to the region, AFP reported. Some 4,000 housing units will be built for homeless families before the end of 2008, he added. All proposed government measures are expected to be announced on Wednesday, with a ministerial council finalising budgets for each sector the next day. On Monday, Algerian authorities declared the southern desert province a "disaster area", KUNA reported.
