Mauritanian opposition National Front for Defence of Democracy decided to stage a protest Sunday (October 5th), despite a new ban on all demonstrations announced last week, APA reported. The protest comes one day before a deadline set by the African Union (AU) for Mauritania to reinstate ousted president Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdallahi or else face economic sanctions and isolation. Junta leader General Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz has rejected the AU ultimatum as "unrealistic and illogical".
