The Mauritanian government plans to ban all protests, Prime Minister Moulaye Ould Mohamed Laghdaf told Radio France Internationale on Tuesday (September 30th). "We're going to ban all demonstrations from all sides," AFP quoted him as saying. The statement comes the same day as the National Front for Defence of Democracy (FNDD), an alliance of political parties opposed to the ruling military junta, called on citizens to join an anti-coup demonstration next Sunday.
