The African Union (AU) Commission, the UN and the Arab League agreed Thursday (September 4th) in Addis Ababa to work together for the restoration of constitutional order and the preservation of peace and stability in Mauritania, local and international press reported. AU Commission chairperson Jean Ping, Said Djinnit of the UN and top Arab League official Ahmed Benhelli again urged the ruling military junta to release ousted president Sidi Ould Sheikh Abdallahi Abdallahi and Prime Minister Yahya Ould Ahmed Waghf.
Elsewhere, Mauritanian legislators announced a corruption probe into former First Lady Khatou Mint El Boukhary's foundation.
