Algerian state protocol chief Mohamed Ziane Hasseni was subjected to "humiliating treatment" by French police, AFP quoted Algerian Communications Minister Abderrachid Boukerzaza as alleging at a press conference on Monday (August 25th). Hasseni was recently arrested August 14th by French police on charges of complicity in the 1987 Paris murder of Algerian lawyer Ali Mecili, an aide to Algeria's Socialist Forces Front (FFS) leader Hocine Ait Ahmed. Boukerzaza said a group of lawyers will defend Hasseni in front of the French justice and that French authorities have been shown evidence of the Algerian diplomat's treatment.
