Agricultural ministers from Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia and Libya gathered Monday (June 30th) in Fez for a conference on Maghreb agriculture. In his opening speech, Moroccan Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Aziz Akhannouch called for stepping up efforts to create a free trade zone among Maghreb countries, MAP reported. A free trade zone is a prerequisite to guaranteeing food security in the region, Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union Secretary Habib ben Yahia also noted.
