Algerian police arrest four in possession of bin Laden propaganda

03/12/2007

Algerian police arrested four people in Mostaganem who were in possession of video materials including speeches by al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, APS quoted a police source as saying on Sunday (December 2nd). Fifteen video cassettes, 60 CDs and 222 audio cassettes with information "defending terrorism and incorporating the speeches of Osama bin Laden and images of terrorist operations downloaded off the Internet" were seized during the operation. The detainees, whose ages range from 27 to 35, were allegedly part of the Houmat Eddaaoua Essalafia (HDS) logistical support group where they collected intelligence and spread propaganda aimed at recruiting young terrorists. HDS was formed after the Algerian authorities dismantled the Armed Islamic Group (GIA) in January 2005.
