Algerian police have arrested five would-be suicide bombers as part of the ongoing investigation into the April 11th attacks that killed 33 people in Algiers, the Algerian daily El Khabar reported Monday (April 30th). The five men allegedly have links with the suicide bombers involved in attacks on a government office building and a police station. The paper quoted police sources as saying that one of the detainees has confessed he was planning suicide attacks in the capital. The former Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), which in January changed its name to the al-Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb, claimed responsibility for the blasts.
