A 6 September article by Algerian newspaper Al-Osboa noted a disagreement between Algerian authorities and the Karoui & Karoui Group due to "financial and organisational differences over investments the Tunisian company makes in Algeria".
The newspaper noted authorities may stop dealings with Karoui & Karoui, which could jeopardise the first "Star Academy Maghreb". Authorities also said they fear the show will offend Algerian customs.
Nabil Karoui and his lawyer went to Algeria at the end of last week to settle matters with Al-Osboa and Algerian authorities. Karoui & Karoui media official Miriam Al-Bazazi said the newspaper has retracted what it said and tacitly apologised for leaking information about the possibility of "Star Academy Maghreb" being cancelled. She added the only change to the show is that it will not broadcast until after Ramadan.
"Karoui assured Algerian authorities 'Star Academy Maghreb' will respect the customs and traditions of the region, segregate male and female participants, not film in bedrooms or bathrooms, and that the contest will not be broadcast live," Al-Bazazi said.(Magharebia).
