National conference of Tunisian Diaspora held in Tunis

Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi opened the national conference of Tunisians living abroad on Monday (7 August). The event gives Tunisian Diaspora the opportunity to demonstrate solidarity with their homeland, as well as to express their view on the course of the country and to give recommendations of how the current economic and social situation could improve. One discussion panel was led by Minister of Development and International Co-operation Mohamed Nouri Jouini and the other by Minister of Women, Children, & Family Affairs Saloua Labben.

In his address to the conference Ghannouchi presented the government development plan for the period 2007-2012, stressing its priorities would be securing 6 per cent annual economic growth rate in the period, opening around 92,000 new working places a year and doubling per capita income.
