Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem has expressed his government's determination to improve the purchasing power of Algerian citizens by increasing wages, strengthening the economy and encouraging investments through a policy of sustainable development. "The file related to the wages of civil servants and some contract employees will be examined in the coming weeks," he said on the national radio programme "Tahaoulat" on Tuesday (20 June).
In terms of economic policy, Belkhadem said that the government has a target growth rate between 7 per cent and 8 per cent through intensification of strategic projects in transport infrastructure, water resources and housing in compliance with the $80 billion government venture started last year to spur economic growth.
