Moroccan king starts trip to Western Sahara

Morocco's King Mohammed VI started a five-day trip to Western Sahara on Monday (20 March) with a visit to Laayoune, one of the region's biggest cities. The visit is meant to present and explain the Moroccan vision to settle the conflict over the territory. The proposed formula, suggested by Morocco, opts for a negotiated political solution that gives large autonomy to the provinces allowing, the local populations to manage their regional affairs within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty.
