Emir Abdelkader's Life Subject of International Colloquium in Algiers

The national Library of Hamma is currently hosting an international colloquium on Emir Abdelkader, organized by the Emir Abdelkader Foundation. In a message addressed to participants, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika called Abdelkader a "forerunner of his time" for urging a constructive dialogue between religions and cultures.

An exhibition of photographs, documents and correspondences from the period of resistance against French colonization until his exile in Damascus are being displayed during the colloquium. (El Moudjahid, APS)
