The fifth African Theatre Festival for Youth (FATEJ) opened Tuesday (9 November) in Cameroon. Representatives from 13 countries, including Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal and Mali, performed 19 shows. Festival director Roger Etoundi Zeyang said the event aims to give African theatre companies international exposure. Towards this end, European theatre insiders attend the festival to commission the best shows to perform in Europe. Since the first festival in 1996, several troupes have been chosen to tour Europe. The festival ends Sunday. (albawaba.com)
