Esperance are still in the lead of the Tunisian Premier League after a 3-2 victory on Sunday (November 30th) against US Monastir in Round 10 of the tournament.
The victory was Esperance's eighth this season, and the second in a row.
During Sunday's game, Espérance's Michael Eneramo was able to enhance his place on the list of top scorers with 10 goals, after scoring the third goal in the game. Esperance now leads with 25 points, 3 points ahead of second place holders ES Sahel.
On Saturday (November 29th), ES Sahel drew 1-1 against Stade Tunisien in a rescheduled match.
"Stade Tunisien could have ended the match with a win," said Stade Tunisien coach Farid Ben Belgasem. "But we wasted up the win and sufficed with a draw. This is, after all, a positive result in view of the many absences in our team."
ES Sahel coach Hervé Gauthier said: "We had several scoring opportunities throughout the match, whether in the first or second half. However, we capitalised on these opportunities on only one occasion. We too were affected by the many absences. We hope to make up for what we have lost so that we may recover after the CAF setback."
Also on Saturday, ES Hammam-Sousse tied 0-0 against CA Bizertin.
Club Africain and CS Sfaxien played to a goalless draw on Sunday. Club Africain is now in third place overall with 18 points. CS Sfaxien is in fourth with 16 points.
CS Hammam-Lif won against AS Kasserine 2-1.
El Gawafel Sportives de Gafsa (EGSG) managed to defeat Olympique Béja 1-0. This is the second loss in a row for Olympique Béja. They remain in 6th with 12 points.
In a match played in the absence of fans in Jendouba, Jendouba Sport drew 0-0 against La Marsa. With this draw, Jendouba holds 8 points, earning the penultimate and 13th place. Meanwhile, La Marsa is in 6th place with 12 points.
