French Moroccan Abderrahman Kabous signed a contract with top Bulgarian club CSKA. Also in football, ES Sahel striker Yassine Chikhaoui was voted best player by a local newspaper.

Yassine Chikhaoui, a national team and Etoile Sportive du Sahel striker, has been voted best player in Tunisia's national championship in 2006. The poll was organized by local newspaper Essarih.
Abderrahman Kabous, a French player of Moroccan descent, has signed a two-and a half year contract with top Bulgarian club CSKA. The midfielder spent 15 days with the team at its training camp in the Turkish resort town of Antalya and received high marks in several test matches. He formally joined the Sofia-based club on 22 February. Kabous was born on 24 April 1983 and according to figures provided by CSKA he is 185 cm tall and weighs 78 kg. Kabous played as a defensive midfielder in several teams in France, Morocco, and Sweden. His recruitment is part of CSKA's effort to launch a strong campaign for this year's title in Bulgaria. The club recently hired Nigerian striker Udoji and Brazilian midfielder Daniel Morales.
Algerian Karim Ziani played a key role in the most dramatic match in the French top league on Saturday (February 24th). He scored Sochaux's second goal in its away game with champions Olympique Lyon. The visitors took a surprising 2-1 lead in the first half and scored one more goal in the 86th minute. The champions unexpectedly returned into the game with a goal by veteran Wiltord in the last minute of regulation time. Juninho Pernambukano then equalized in the second minute of injury time. Lyon remains at the top of the table with 58 points. Sochaux is fourth with 40 points and continues to fight for a berth for the lucrative Champions League.
Another Algerian, Mansour Boutabout, also made headlines in France on Saturday when he scored the second goal for Sedan's surprising 2-0 victory away at Ren. His team remains in the last 20th spot of the top league with only 22 points. It is still seven points adrift of the 17th spot which offers safety from relegation.
Moroccan Youssouf Hadji saved his club Nancy in its away game with second-placed Lens in the French top league. The midfielder scored in the 89th minute to win a very valuable point for Nancy. The match ended in a 2-2 draw. Nancy is 10th in the league with 35 points and may yet be able to make it to the UEFA Cup.
